Millrace IT
MillRace IT is a social enterprise located in Essex and are a wholly owned subsidiary of the charity InterAct.
MillRace IT works with JobCentre Plus and Shaw Trust to provide employment and training opportunities for people who have been long-term unemployed. They help to improve self esteem, confidence and overcome barriers to further training and employment.
The training has made the work we do easier. It has enabled us to work better as a team… we are able to organise our workload and time much better
Through applying for Beyond 2010 funding MillRace IT were able to help train staff in areas they had identified as bottlenecks to delivering their business more efficiently.
By employees attending forklift truck training, MillRaceIT increased the number of skilled workers in the warehouse and were able to organise their staff schedule to better effect.
Providing the training to a number of part time staff has increased team cohesion and given MillRace IT a pool of qualified people.
The Beyond 2010 business support programme is delivered by Essex County Council and funded by the European Social Fund and East of England Development Agency. Social Enterprise East of England work with Essex County Council to deliver the Social Enterprise sector for Beyond 2010.
